چکیده

Abstract Background The role of sequential blood culture time to positivity (TTP) as a surrogate marker for bacterial load and prognostic indicator in S. aureus bacteremia (SAB) is not well established the literature. Methods We performed single healthcare system, multi-site, retrospective review adult patients with positive between January 2019 December 2019. Sequential TTP was defined first subsequent cultures obtained from SAB at least 24 hours. adapted previously described ratio < 1.5 cut-off study groups. Blood culture time to positivity in febrile infants with bacteremia.

IMPORTANCE Blood cultures are often obtained as part of the evaluation of infants with fever and these infants are typically observed until their cultures are determined to have no growth. However, the time to positivity of blood culture results in this population is not known. OBJECTIVE To determine the time to positivity of blood culture results in febrile infants admitted to a general inpa...

Time to positivity in Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia: possible correlation with the source and outcome of infection.

BACKGROUND Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia often persists and causes metastatic infections. It is unknown whether the time between blood culture incubation and growth detection (i.e., the time to positivity) in a continuously monitored system--a probable surrogate marker of bacteremia severity--correlates with outcome. METHODS We performed a prospective, observational study involving adult i...

Time to positivity in blood cultures of adults with Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteremia

BACKGROUND previous studies have established that bacterial blood concentration is related with clinical outcome. Time to positivity of blood cultures (TTP) has relationship with bacterial blood concentration and could be related with prognosis. As there is scarce information about the usefulness of TTP, we study the relationship of TTP with clinical parameters in patients with Streptococcus pn...

TAZ Expression as a Prognostic Indicator in Colorectal Cancer

The Hippo pathway restricts the activity of transcriptional coactivators TAZ (WWTR1) and YAP. TAZ and YAP are reported to be overexpressed in various cancers, however, their prognostic significance in colorectal cancers remains unstudied. The expression levels of TAZ and YAP, and their downstream transcriptional targets, AXL and CTGF, were extracted from two independent colon cancer patient dat...

Blood group as a prognostic indicator in breast cancer.

A retrospective analysis of 1001 patients with invasive breast cancer showed a difference in survival between patients with different blood groups. Analysis of time from operation to local recurrence and to general recurrence reinforced this finding. The difference between blood groups became increasingly significant after accepted prognostic factors were allowed for. Patients at particularly h...
